This blog used to be a separate to the Reading Matters website and was called Getting Reading. My infrequent series of posts called Getting Linking gathers together lists of resources for use in Reading Matter services. I am not sure that title still works, but lists of great resources are always going to be useful. A post on the HarperCollins blog Independent Thinking, inspired me to revisit the series;
- The Hueys by Oliver Jeffers is the Children’s Book of the Month for May! – check out the activity sheets and Facebook page!
- The Big Diamond Jubilee Read – School competition with lots of resources
- Poems to perform – poems to read and activities to engage in
- The Literacy Center – a range of basic but good resources (it’s american hence center)
- Phonics Play – some free to play phonics games
- TLS Books Free Worksheets – Download and print a range of sheets
- Discovery Education Puzzle Maker – Smart way to make all sorts of puzzles
- My Wonderful World – geography based games and activities
- Memorize – make you own flash cards and other resources
- Storybird – short online stories to be made, read and shared
- Ficly – an online collaborative writing scheme, with plenty of stories to read
- YourFonts – create a font from your hand writing!
Any suggestion for a better name for these posts than Getting Linking gratefully recieved.
