Reading Matters Gala Dinner, Friday 1 March 2013
Our first ever Gala Dinner was held on 1 March at the wonderful Midland Hotel in Bradford. Our guests enjoyed fine wine, food, dancing and much merriment and enjoyment. Our after dinner speaker and patron, the wonderful ‘Bard of Barnsley’, Ian McMillan was absolutely fantastic! The Lord Mayor of Bradford dropped in and gave us £1000 from his Lord Mayor’s appeal, Sprinkle Sunshine, and this along with maximum £3000 in match funding from Barclays Bank, gave us total raised of around £8000. We are absolutely thrilled!
Thank you to all those who attended, bought auction items, participated in the envelope draw or donated prizes. We were amazed at the level of support. Here’s to another one, next year maybe?
