We are offering a brilliant literacy package to Bradford primary schools

Thanks to funding received from The Brelms Trust we are able to offer primary schools within the Bradford area a fantastic literacy support package worth £1400 for just £650!

This amazing offer includes a Reading Leaders course for 20 pupils, a box of fun and engaging reading resources worth £400 and also a place at our forthcoming ‘Closing the Literacy Gap’ conference, and is a brilliant way to help raise literacy attainment at your school.

The Reading Leaders scheme, which trains older pupils to be peer mentors and support younger pupils with reading, brings benefits for the children on both sides of the partnership, improving their literacy and communication skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Reading Leaders training takes place at school over the course of a normal school day. We recommend training a cohort of around 20 year 4 or 5 pupils and there is also a free place for the member of staff acting as the school co-ordinator.

All training must be delivered before the end of the Summer term. Contact us today to find out more about this fantastic offer.

Don’t miss our ‘Closing the Literacy Gap’ conference on June 29!

With just two weeks to go until our ‘Closing the Literacy Gap’ conference on June the 29th this is your last chance to make sure you book your place for what promises to be an informative and inspiring day of CPD.

First ever National Writing Day

Our friends at First Story, in partnership with many other literacy and arts organisations, have created the first ever National Writing Day as a way of celebrating writing creatively in Britain. They would like schools, libraries, writing groups and communities across the country to share in this celebration through a series of events and activities.

Put pen to paper, unleash your imagination and make your voice heard. You’re invited to join many special events across the UK; from Hull to Bristol, London to Edinburgh, Cardiff to Belfast, leading arts and culture venues will open their doors to the public with inspiring events and activities. If you can’t find an event close to you, you can register your own event at your local school, community centre, workplace or living room.

So get involved and and share your writing on Wednesday 21st June 2017!

If you are a member of an organisation such as Rotary, the Women’s Institute or similar, please bear us in mind when inviting speakers to attend your events. A member of the Reading Matters team would be delighted to come along and talk about our work and its impact on the lives of young people and also explain how you can become more involved.
