Our latest Impact Report shows an average reading age improvement of 13 months in just 10 hours.

We are delighted to share the fantastic results of our latest Impact Report with you which relates to the 2015-16 academic year.

During the last year we have proudly supported 6805 children and young people with reading development; 98% showing an improvement in reading performance and 90% demonstrating better confidence and self-esteem.

Following intervention from a Reading Matters’ trained Reading Mentor or Reading Leader, the average improvement in a child’s reading age is shown to be 13 months, but in many cases by even more.

Reading Matters trains adult volunteers, peer mentors, education staff and parents and carers to get the best from one to one reading development with young people.

Rachel Kelly, the Chief Executive of Reading Matters said “I’m really proud of the difference that Reading Matters makes to so many young lives. Focussed, personal one to one support is a great way of addressing reading difficulties and helping a child to catch up quickly because working in partnership is motivating and fun”.
