Improve literacy attainment with our CPD training for school staff

Are you looking for Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses that will improve outcomes for your pupils?

Our workshops and accredited training courses are ideal for engaging secondary and primary Teaching Assistants, School Governors and other support staff in a ‘whole school’ approach to literacy development.

During our training we’ll discuss the best strategies for helping pupils with poor reading skills and low confidence whilst raising staff morale and consolidating good teamwork.

Reading Teams training improves the teaching of reading and understanding of key elements such as phonics and reading comprehension to enable more staff to be involved with supporting reading development.

A recent participant commented, “A very enjoyable, informative and useful training session – helped me to address situations which have arisen when supporting reading”.

Please follow this link for full details about our Reading Teams courses and how they will help to raise literacy attainment in your school.

Could you help a child with reading?

Would you like to make a difference to young people by helping them to read with confidence and reach their potential?

We are urgently seeing adult volunteers to become Reading Mentors and support children with their reading in schools in the Boston Spa area of Leeds.

Applicants need to be available for two hours a week during term time.

Full training and support will be given.

Please contact us as soon as possible for more information.

Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival

To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, Harrogate International Festivals present a Summer filled with more talks, concerts and events than ever before.

The Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival was recently picked by Harper’s Bazaar as one of the UK’s Best Literary Festivals.

This year’s diverse programme features a wealth of fantastic names from the worlds of politics, economics, science, music and literature, including Jeremy Bowen, Julia Bradbury, Vince Cable, James Naughtie, Mary Portas and John Suchet.

There are also a number of special anniversary events, marking 100 years since Roald Dahl’s birth, 400 years since Shakespeare’s death, plus a keen focus on the 60’s and in particular 1966 – the year the Festival was born.
