Reading Matters is delighted to have been awarded a fantastic £8,800 by the Morrisons Foundation to train Reading Leaders to help children who struggle with reading in Bradford secondary schools.
The money will be spent on training Reading Leaders, who are older pupils who provide reading support to younger ones and act as positive reading role models in schools.
Reading Matters is especially proud of its Reading Leaders programme which is level two accredited by Certa for participants aged 14 and over.
The scheme brings benefits for the young people on both sides of the partnership, raising reading age, attitudes to reading, confidence and self-esteem.
For the Reading Leader, being able to gain an accreditation is a great way of recognising their valuable contribution to improving the potential of younger pupils in their schools and really stands out on their CV or UCAS application.
David Scott, Trustee of the Morrisons Foundation said “We are delighted to have awarded this grant to Reading Matters. They provide a great service and I’m sure that this donation will help them to make a real difference to children living in the Bradford area”.
Reading Matters awarded the highest possible rating by Certa!
We have recently been externally verified again by our Awarding Body, Certa UK and are delighted to share that (once more!) we have been awarded the highest possible rating as a training provider.
Reading Matters accredited training is available for Reading Mentors, Reading Leaders and as Continued Professional Development for Reading Teams.
We are delighted that another 104 successful participants have recently been successful in achieving their level two accreditation in Supporting Reading Skills.
Well done everybody!
